2018 toyota supra release date updates
Toyota is seriously serious about building cars that appeal to the heart, not just in mind. He brings back the Supra, one of his most emblematic models, in order to revive the ties with his past performance and once again attract the enthusiasts in the showrooms.
The segment of sports cars is declining all over the world, making it increasingly difficult for companies to justify spending money on new entrants. That’s why Toyota partnered with Subaru to design the 86, and the Supra will share its platform with a BMW roadster being considered a replacement for the Z4.
The Supra and the next drop-top of BMW will use the same basic architecture, but they will appear completely different. For starters, the Supra will only be offered as coupé while the roadster – which could adopt the name Z5 – wonâ € ™ t generate a hardtop model.
The brand-specific tires will make Supra look like a Toyota and the Z4 as a BMW, and each company will give its sports car an engine developed in-house. Do not be afraid, fans, this will not be another case of ingenious indolent badges. The Supra nameplate was introduced in 1978 and was used on four generations of coupes until the final example was produced in 2002.
Toyota could easily go back, but it did not win. Instead, the next Supra will get an elegant and modern look, inspired by the well received FT-1 concept – presented above – featured in the edition 2014 of the Detroit Auto Show, according to Motor Authority. Its front end will feature a long hood, horizontal headlights and a bumper with large air dams, although not as pronounced as the concept, ne nose of formula 1.
The roof line spikes just above the driver and descends gently into a duck-tail spoiler, a style marker that gives it a fastback look. Like the original Supra, the upcoming model features a tailgate that improves convenience. It is supposed to be a sports car with which you can live every day, not just a track toy that sits in the garage during the week. With strictly two seats, Supra will offer a center console centered on the driver, a fully configurable digital instrument set and a high resolution dashboard on the dashboard.
At the launch, the Supra will likely offer an evolution of the all-new V6 engine that started earlier this year in Lexus LS 2018. It will use a pair of turbochargers to generate 400 horsepower and 300 pounds of torque in its most basic configuration. Rear traction will be standard, although the transmission options remain unconfirmed. Amateurs who want even more power will have to be hybrid.
Familiar sources with Toyota’s plans have revealed that the second Supra powertrain will be a gasoline-electric hybrid built around a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a powerful engine à © electric.
One of the main rivals of Supra will be the Nissan 370Z. It is one of the old cuts in the market, so it could be out of production by the time Supra lands, but Nissan has already confirmed that a successor is underway. Toyota will position its next coupe in the same segment as the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang, two of the most popular sports cars on the market. It will also face competition from the BMW 4 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and the Audi A5 Coupe.
Again, nothThe introduction is stone at this point. However, industry rumors indicate that Toyota will preview Supra’s next generation by showing a concept close to production at this year’s Tokyo Auto Show. If this is accurate, the production model could make its official debut in the coming year and arrive in the showrooms in time for the 2019 model year. If the rumors are false, we should wait until early in 2019 to see the next expected Supra in the metal. The Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung reports that the contract manufacturer Magna-Steyr will build both the
